Our Mission is to provide quality and artistic entertainment within the community by promoting and celebrating the performing arts as well as providing a unique venue rental facility for meetings, seminars, musical performances, comedy, plays, storytelling, weddings, fashion shows, classes, photography, film, gallery shows, parties, special events, field trips and etc.

About Us

​

Absolute Studio/Theater is in the heart of Mellwood Art Center courtyard in Louisville, Kentucky. We offer venue rentals to customers/companies, and we can hold a small audience up to 100 depending on stage size set up and display. We share a common area that has its own restrooms and box office out front for ticket collection, other sales, check-in, and etc. We allow catering to come in, but they must carry their own food/drink license. We have a full prep hair and make-up area for photography/production and our inner space is close to 2000 square feet. We have a stage that can be set up in various ways or you can bring your own setup. If you would like to schedule a walk-through to see the space please call (502) 819-0566

Our venue can provide fabrication and design for sets/stage, lighting, and event layout. We have in house costuming for photography, advertising, shows, and production. There is in house hair and make-up artistry for photography, fashion shoots, shows, weddings, and etc. We also have in house photography which is available for everything our venue has to offer.  We pride ourselves on being the one-stop-shop!

Rentals

(All rentals require a non-refundable deposit of half upfront to lock in a date)

Photography Rental SPACE ONLY (Basic House Package):

This allows you to shoot within the space of the studio and on the grounds of Mellwood Art Center. It gives you the ability to book your own sessions with your clients. The room has access to the hair and make-up area, you must provide your own products or hair/make-up artist. This space provides in the common area access to men's and woman's restrooms. In the common area, you also have access to set up food/drinks. (This is our basic house package and does not include the use of any equipment or props)

Mon.-Thurs. 8:00am-10:00pm $25 per hour (Minimum 2 hours) 

Fri.-Sun. 8:00am-10:00pm $30 per hour (Minimum 2 hours)

Photography Rental Space, Backdrops, and Props (Premiere House Package):

This allows you to shoot within the space of the studio and on the grounds of Mellwood Art Center. It gives you the ability to book your own sessions with your clients. The room has access to the hair and make-up area, you must provide your own products or hair/make-up artist. This space provides in the common area access to men's and women's restrooms. In the common area, you also have access to set up food/drinks. By choosing this package you have use of backdrop stands, numerous backdrops, curtains, draping fabrics, rugs, pillows, chairs, furniture, props, and etc. (This is our Premiere house package does not include lighting)

Mon.-Thurs. 8:00am-10:00pm $35 per hour (Minimum 2 hours)

Fri.-Sun. 8:00am-10:00pm $40 per hour (Minimum 2 hours)

Photography Rental Space, Backdrops, Props, In House Make-up/Hair, Styling, Set-up, Model (Ultimate Package):

This allows you to shoot within the space of the studio and on the grounds of Mellwood Art Center. It gives you the ability to book your own sessions or have us get you a qualified model for your brand. This package means that when you come in everything is set up by us and ready to go for your shoot. Our in house make-up and hair artist gets your people ready, and our stylist has your set and stage set up. The stylist also has clothing laid out or assists with the people being brought in and their own. This space provides in the common area access to men's and women's restrooms. In the common area, you also have access to set up food/drinks. By choosing this package you have use of backdrop stands, numerous backdrops, curtains, draping fabrics, rugs, pillows, chairs, furniture, props, and etc. This package also allows you the ability to use various lighting and the full usage from our team based on what you may need. (This is our Ultimate package and all prices need to be negotiated based on needs and use)

Mon.-Sun. 10:00am-7:00pm $200 per hour starting price  (Minimum 4 hours)

In House Photographer (Me, Myself, & I Ultimate Package):

This package provides you the ability to set up a session with one of our in house photographers and gives you the ultimate opportunity to shoot with Absolute Studio Theater. Our qualified professionals can shoot event photography, fashion editorial, family, graduations, sport, headshots, pin-up, show, brands, food, still and etc. (This Me, Myself & I Ultimate package can be negotiated separately)

Mon.-Sun. 10:00am-11:00pm $100 per hour starting package price

 Venue Show Rental (This is for productions, plays, recitals, concerts, comedy, fashion, entertainment, etc.)

This venue provides you with 2000 square feet of show/event space and a small box office. The common area has an additional 1000 square feet with restrooms and some seating. The box office has a mini-refrigerator, microwave, counter space, and coffee maker. This venue provides you with stages, lighting, T.V's, sound system, hair and make-up room, 140 chairs, is handicap accessible, and etc. Shows from time to time can also take place in the courtyard and would be best suited for summer.

Mon.-Thurs. 9:00am-10:00pm $650 per full day ($325 5 hours depending on a stage set up/equipment used)

Anything past 5 hours is billed as a regular rental day.

Fri.-Sun. 9:00am-12:00pm $875 per full day ($437.50 5 hours depending on a stage set up/equipment used)

Anything past 5 hours is billed as a regular rental day.

Rehearsal Time is given Free day before show with full-day show rental

Half-day rentals pay $150 for 4 hours

Show prices can be negotiated based on time and general usage of the production facility, staff, and accessories.

ALL SHOWS REQUIRE HALF THE DEPOSIT AT THE TIME OF RENTAL AND IT IS NON-REFUNDABLE, THE OTHER HALF IS DUE FIVE DAYS BEFORE PRODUCTION.

ALL LARGER PRODUCTIONS MUST AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE MAINTAIN A GENERAL LIABILITY INSURANCE POLICY WHICH MUST BE PRESENTED PRIOR TO SHOW.

 Wedding & Receptions Let's Get Married in A Theater (All Day)

Under the night of 1000 stars, Absolute Studio Theater offers the ability to get married in the setting of a theater. This venue offers couples the ability to live out their entertainment dreams in front of their family and friends which makes up the audience. The lighting in this venue is truly romantic/amazing, and will totally make for a day to remember. We have a prep room available for the bride, bride maids, and mother of the bride. We have a box office out front which makes for a wonderful place to have people sign in. The common area has men's and woman's restrooms, an area to set up food/drinks and etc.  The venue can be set up for 100 guests depending on your stage set up and we include set up/practice for the night before. We have a piano that can be played and used for the event out front or in the venue.

Thurs.-Sun. 9:00am-10:00pm $950 for full-day and set up/rehearsal day before

ALL WEDDINGS REQUIRE HALF THE DEPOSIT AT THE TIME OF RENTAL AND IT IS NON-REFUNDABLE, THE OTHER HALF IS DUE FIVE DAYS BEFORE EVENT.

Meetings/Classes/Training Sessions (All Day)

This allows you the use of T.V.s for a powerpoint presentation or the use of a projector. You can set up chairs and tables to suit your needs for class or training session. This venue also has microphones and sound that can be used for speaking.  This space provides in the common area access to men's and women's restrooms. In the common area, you also have access to set up food/drinks. The setting is beautiful, professional and easily accessible.

 

Mon.-Thurs. 8:00am-8:00pm  $350 all day    Half day 4 hours $225

Fri.-Sun. 8:00am-8:pm $500 all day

Small Parties (4 hours)

Have a party in the theater by watching a movie on a big screen, playing games, singing, hosting a baby shower, birthday, bridal shower, anniversary graduation, and etc. This space provides in the common area access to men's and women's restrooms. In the common area, you also have access to set up food/drinks. The setting is beautiful, professional easily accessible, and fun for all. Very comfortable seating up to 60.

Outer Venue

We are in the heart of Mellwood Art Center Located in the courtyard under all the lights.

Once you walk in through the doors you will be in the common area where table,chairs, restrooms, and box office are.

The Venue has 140 seats that can be used indoor or outdoors in the common area or courtyard.
